Great mountain setting cabin - almost perfect.
Positive: The location can’t be beat because of the stunning location. Tie views to the mountains are breathtaking!
The cabin is cozy, clean and comfortable and close to Maggie Valley town center. I have a good friend who lives across the valley but I couldn’t stay with her because I am allergic to her cats. I also had my small (not cat friendly) dog with me. Sleepy Bear Cabin was a wonderful place to stay. The kitchenette is tiny and dated but ok for my short stay. The main bedroom is cosy and the bed comfortable. I slept really well there.
Negative: The access road is very steep, especially at the start and very sharp hairpin bend. My car which is higher than an average suv scapes bottom every ascent of the road. No damage done - just scapes on the underside. I didn’t meet another vehicle on the road during my 5 night stay but a mirror at the sharp turn might help in case another vehicle is coming up/down the one lane road.
Communication during my stay was not ideal. I ordered firewood from the owner via the Booking.com app as she suggested but I never got the firewood just a message 2 days later. I extended my stay before my arrival for one day directly with the owners. When I returned to the cabin that afternoon on my last night, the entry code had been cancelled and I was locked out. There was no phone number provided by the owners so it took some online research online to try to find the owner’s company. It worked out ok eventually but poor communication was the main reason why I cannot give a 5 star review.

Positive: the cabin was absolutely perfect! Loved the bear themed decor. It had everything we needed. And oh my the spectacular view!
Negative: The “driveway” up & parking was a little scary. Couldn’t do it with a long vehicle (I have a Jeep so it wasn’t a problem
